An Exciting Day!

Today I received inventory of the new book Saul Raisin and I wrote together. He came by after his ride for a quick celebration. Lots of other great things are going on which I'll write about soon, but the best thing of all was that my nine-year-old daughter, Carly, wrote me a wonderful little story. This is her account of a special adventure that we've had over the last few weeks:

Baby Blue Jay
By Carly Shields

One day I was doing my report. I went upstairs after a while because I was getting bored. But the weird thing was my parents weren’t upstairs so I went outside and there’s my dad walking down the sidewalk with a baby blue jay in his hands!!!!!!

My mom and Sabrina (my sister) were on a walk and they saw the Blue Jay sitting on the ground.

We found a cage to put him in and we gave him some water out of a syringe and shelled sunflower seeds.

We named him Sun Jay because we found him on Sunday, he likes the sun, and Sabrina found him!!

Soon he could fly but right after that we had to go to Lake Powell while we were there he flew away!! I miss him terribly and I always will!! I hope he’s okay out there!!!
